Immunometabolism
RESEARCH GROUP’S MISSION
Chronic, low grade inflammation has been observed during the development and maintenance of obesity. It has been proposed that adipose tissue is the primary source of proinflammatory mediators. Although many studies have been published in this field in the last two decades, the true nature of the inflammatory milieu in adipose tissue has yet to be clarified. In this respect, a question remains: why does adipose tissue become inflamed, and what is the physiological aspect involved in adipose inflammation upon nutrient overload? We, therefore, are interested to study the involvement of inflammatory mediators in the control of metabolic homeostasis.
