ENTOMOLOGY
Systematics, Distribution and Biology
The studies in entomology are focused on faunistics and biology of Coleoptera, Diptera, Heteroptera, and Orthoptera (mainly reports on pesticids effects in Belostomatidae, Calliphoridae, Culicidae, Notonectidae, and Nepidae) and keys to the families, subfamilies, genera and species of water bugs (Heteroptera: Nepomorpha and Gerromorpha) occurring in Minas Gerais are being available. The list of species is based on literature (including species from adjacent states: ES, GO, MS, MT, RJ and SP) and material collected in several localities of the state. About 160 species (of which 100 Nepomorpha) are dealt with. There are 76 new records for MG (18 for Brazil as a whole), of these 11 were described recently; 7 are not identified to species and are probably "new" and 48 are so far only known from adjacent states.
